Q&A with BED OF STARS✭✭✭★★★★

#1 Why the name “Bed of Stars?” and what’s the best wish you ever made on a star ? Bed of Stars came from a lyric in one of my favourite songs called "Pressure Suit" by a man named Matt Hales, who releases music under the name Aqualung. It seemed like a perfect fit to describe my creative efforts. I've also always been obsessed with Sci-Fi, Astronomy, UFO's and the like. I don't tend to wish upon stars, although for some reason 90% of the time I look up and it's clear out I will see a shooting star, it is pretty weird. I'm more on the 11:11 thing, I'm not sure why.

#2 how would your describe your music? Cinematic Pop.

#3 How many people are involved in the band? Bed of Stars music is all written by me, the studio efforts are primarily me, everything starts in my home.As for live, I'm either solo or I hire out musicians for the full band experience. It is my goal to develop Bed of Stars into a consistent line-up of musicians for our live show, but as of right now it's an ever-changing cast of characters.

#4 who are your influences or where do you get your inspiration? The list is quite immense, the most obvious ones to me would be Radiohead and Rufus Wainwright. Inspiration comes from all sorts of things, the places I travel, the people I know, experiences I have, or witness etc

#5 how long does it take you to record a song before you call it gold? From writing to recording could take anywhere from 2 hours to 2 months, to 2 years with me. It all depends on the song, some ideas are ready immediately, others are seasoned and filtered through time. There's no telling, other than my gut…complimented by a world of patience.
#6 Who would you: kill? Make love to? And who/what would you tattoo on your body?    I would not kill anyone.

*I don't know about make love to, but I'd love to spend a day with Bjork, she's incredible.

*There's an instrumental composition called Prettier Than Them by a band called The Awkward Stage that I became obsessed with a number of years ago. It's become very important to me, I've thought about getting the notes tattooed on me in some fashion.

#7 When did you know you wanted to be a musician? I've wanted to be a drummer since I was about 2. My parents told me I should learn piano first though, so I started that around age 4, and through the years continued onto drums and then guitar.

#8 What can you tell us about your upcoming tour or album launch? I'm just getting ready to shoot 2 incredible music videos for this release, as well as some release shows here in Canada, one in Vancouver on June 28th at The Media Club, and another in Toronto in July, and then a tour to follow. This is just the beginning and I'm very excited for what is coming next.

#9 Where do you see yourself/your music in 5 years? The sky's the limit! All I truly hope for though is that I'm in a place where I can continue creating and performing every day as my living. That's the dream.

#10 what’s one vice you cant live without? I'm quite dull, I don't smoke and I only recently started drinking on occasion. The only thing I do is music, so maybe that's my vice? I tend to have a bad habit of eating foods that are terrible for me, that's the only thing I can think of.
